HELLO BUMP! A Guide to Pregnancy Skin.

Oh that special moment when we find out that life is created within us! It can be exhilarating and frightening at the same time!

As the bun is busy in its oven, changes start to emerge not only through weight and size gain but also in the skin. We’re talking about pigmentation, pimples and sun sensitivity! There are certain ingredients that we once loved and cannot use anymore too. Oh did we mention stretch marks? Or what we like to call warrior marks! Be proud of these stretch marks as they represent the challenges and strengths of being a mum. But like any beauty enthusiast, if there are products out there to minimise these tiny flaws, we are jumping on that bandwagon! With the right treatment, you can easily get rid of those small flaws that your pregnancy may have left on your skin!

Lucky for you, French Beauty Co is expecting their first baby. Our lovely Frenchie mamma shares her tips to have the best skin for a healthy and glowing pregnancy!

Minimise a Pimple Attack!

SEBIUM FOAMING GEL

DON’T:

Use AHAs or BHAs.

DO:

Use a purifying cleanser to regulate oil production.

“My all-time favourite cleanser (even before falling pregnant) is the Bioderma Sebium Foaming Gel. It doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight or dry but keeps the pimples away. I use it on my back as well!”

Avoid the Pregnancy Mask!

VINOPERFECT SERUM

DON’T:

Use Vitamin C.

DO:

Protect yourself from dark spots and pigmentation.

“My favourite is the Caudalie Vinoperfect Serum, sourced from grapevine sap, it’s 62 times more effective than vitamin C!

Stay clear of essential oils! - Trust us, it’s almost in everything!

DON’T:

Use essential oils or retinol!!! Avoid at all costs!

DO:

Continue your anti-aging routine.

“It was so hard to find a natural alternative for anti-aging, les huilletes Sensitive is a face and body oil without essential oils but has a natural source of retinol and an omega-rich composition to leave the skin looking radiant and plump”

The shade is your new best friend, and also fake tan!

PHOTODERM BB CREAM

DON’T:

Expect to tan the same.

DO:

Wear sunscreen everyday!

“My skin has gotten so sensitive to the sun during pregnancy. So now I never leave the house without Bioderma Photoderm BB Cream, it has SPF 50+ so I know I’m getting the highest protection. It’s also easy to touch-up, the light coverage fakes that pregnancy glow and makes me more put together!”

Oil up your BUMP!

DON’T:

Wait till stretch marks to appear to start treating it, Prevention is key!

DO:

Find a stretch mark cream or oil with a pleasant texture that you can see yourself applying religiously every day and night!

“I have been trailing the NEW Mustela Maternity Stretch Mark Oil and Cream for over a month and I’m so happy to recommend this to everyone! I love to use the stretch mark cream in the morning, it instantly absorbs and I can put my clothes on immediately. In the evening I enjoy massaging my skin with the stretch mark oil. I’m going to definitely continue with these products after pregnancy!”
