French Haircare Secrets for Curly Hair - French Beauty Co.

Invest in your hair; it’s the crown you never take off.

I certainly do, countless dollars, to be exact. It has been a never-ending quest to find the right products to tame my curls. I have dyed my hair to be a blonde bombshell from a naturally black base, so keeping them hydrated has been a new sport for me. I have been using too many protein-based hair products, which have dried my curls out, so I am currently trying to minimise them in my routine.

I have found le French way of looking after hair has been doing wonders for my curls, especially when using top-shelf French hair products. French women are known to have that low-key yet très chic locks yet look effortless when they walk out the door. I have taken advice from these beautès and let me tell you, my curls have never felt better! Let me spill the hair secrets that will change your life, turn heads and make them say oh là là…

French hair tip 1#

Wash your hair twice a week

Le French avoid washing their hair often to prevent irritating and stripping the scalp of its natural oils. The French secret is that the following day after washing the hair is when it has its best volume.

I like to balance the Cattier Sulphate-free Shampoo and Conditioner for coloured hair to preserve my blonde locks and the Klorane Shampoo and Conditioner with Oat Milk to avoid overusing protein and hydrate my hair.   To detangle my hair in the shower (always detangle curls when they are wet!), I use the Bachca 029 Beech Wood Wooden Comb. When I am styling my hair in a bun or a ponytail to smooth out the hair for a more sleek look, I use the Bachca 001 Wooden Detangling Hair Brush with Nylon Bristles. I love these brushes as they detangle so carefully and avoid any breakage.

French hair tip 2#

No heat; let your hair run free

Say less! Le French are about being au naturel and saving time, and so am I. Apply less heat and let the hair dry naturally. Protecting your hair whilst having more time to sip on coffee and enjoy a croissant in the morning.

French hair tip 3#

Leave-in treatments are key

Healthy, luscious hair is a more challenging goal to reach without leave-in treatments. There are multiple treatments on the market, such as mists, creams, gels and masks; find what works for you and your hair routine. Personally, I will take all the products I can get to achieve hydrated, bouncy curls.

After I step out of the shower with my hair clean, I spray the Christophe Robin Hydrating Leave-In Mist with Aloe Vera to hydrate and detangle my curls. Next, I use the Christophe Robin Regenerating Serum with Prickly Pear Oil on my scalp and hair to repair and strengthen. Lastly, I apply the Christophe Robin Luscious Curl Defining Butter with Kokum Butter to define my curls.

French women love to use their weekends for pamper time and TLC, specifically deep hair treatments. My favourite mask is the Christophe Robin Hydrating Melting Mask with Aloe Vera to deeply hydrate my curls and give it that va va voom!
